Marty Luckert specializes in forest policy and economics in his work for EarthEcon. His expertise includes forest tenure policy, biofuels, and land use change. He has published over 60 journal articles, 30 book chapters, and 10 books on related subject matter, and has made hundreds of invited presentations to policy makers, academics, and general audiences at venues around the world.
Marty works on development and livelihoods in addition to his forest policy research. He was a recipient of the Killam Annual Professorship as well as an International Engagement Award from the Faculty of Agriculture, Life, and Environmental Sciences. Marty has served on many provincial and territorial forest policy committees across Canada and internationally. He has completed numerous consulting contracts worldwide, for clients such as the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Alberta Sustainable Resources Development, and Health Canada. Marty holds a BSc in Forest Resources Management from Northern Arizona University, and a PhD in Forestry Economics and Policy from the University of British Columbia.
